Students of Oruchi Comprehensive Secondary School, Amachai, Okpanam, recently received a boost in both moral guidance and academic support as Fostering Hopes Foundation, in collaboration with Precious Family Aid Charity Foundation, paid a visit to the school, donating books and writing materials.
During the visit, representatives of the two foundations addressed the students on the dangers of social vices such as cultism and drug abuse, emphasizing that such behaviours could derail their future ambitions.
Speaking on behalf of Fostering Hopes Foundation, the Director of Community Engagement and Development, Comrade Patrick Ochei, highlighted the organization’s commitment to child protection and development. He revealed that the foundation has empowered 12 families and currently sponsors 42 children on scholarship. He encouraged the students to remain focused on productive activities alongside their academic pursuits.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of Precious Family Aid Charity Foundation, Mrs. Patricia Gbemudu, commended the school’s management for fostering a supportive and child-friendly learning environment. She urged the students to strive for excellence and avoid negative influences that could jeopardize their future.
The Guest Speaker and State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Tracy Ikolomi, delivered an insightful lecture, guiding the students on making informed decisions and embracing positive values necessary for a responsible and progressive society.
In her remarks, the school principal, Mrs. Ofuasia, expressed appreciation to the visiting organizations for their support and encouragement. She noted the importance of partnerships with non-governmental organizations.
The visit concluded on a joyful note, as students and staff expressed gratitude for the donation of books and pens.
